To be fair, I was expecting carnage from the moment I set foot on the grounds at Tulsa. A no-prep race, late in November, with cold weather? It pretty much writes itself at that point…it wouldn’t be a matter of “if”, but a matter of “when” someone wadded their car up. To my genuine surprise, there wasn’t any of that. There was carnage, of course: Andy Reynolds’ Malibu wagon did some damage on it’s sky-high wheelstand, as did a few others…namely the Fairmont Futura…but Chuck from Street Outlaws probably had the hardest luck of the event. While taking on a Camaro, the twin-turbocharged Death Trap Mustang got loose and, with Chuck’s no-lift driving style not helping matters any, managed to drift into the wall, slapping it just hard enough to cause him to put the car up for the night. The damage isn’t too bad, mostly cosmetic, but the car will be checked out before it returns to racing. The damage to Chuck’s ego, on the other hand…
