PROJECT CARS
THE CRUISE '67 CHEVY IMPALA CONVERTIBLE
We didn’t really intend to own this despite the fact that we’d always craved an excessive American drop-top. Perhaps it was that long-held lust that twitched the eBay finger when we saw the auction closing for just $4,500 with 5 minutes to spare. We punched in $4,855.55 at the last second and won the car for exactly that amount. It’s a good thing, too, since now we love the convertible nearly as much as King Horsepower (whom, it would seem, the Impala’s 283 has never met). But it’s the greatest cruiser and daily driver in the fleet even if it is a little rusty and rashed. No other car we own draws as much, “Hey dude—wanna sell it?” as the Imp. And no, we don’t. Instead, we’ll give it a little extra power and then focus on making it slightly less painful on the eyes.

I've got a buddy with a '67 hardtop, he's had a nightmare trying to find parts for it. It's awesome that yours is so straight, you won't have to go through his new-fender hell. Can't wait to see what this turns into!

The problem with the 69-70 disc brake set up is that they are near impossible to find now. There is also only one company still making the rotors and they are expensive.
My 70 Caprice has them. My Impala has CPP's set up and it stops just as good.

Hi David,
I just found this site. I been a fan of your work for quite along time. CC & HR are not the same since you left (especially CC).
Anywhoo, nice ride. I also have a white 1967 Impala convertible, except mines an SS and has a red interior. My car is also column shift because it has the optional Strato-Back seat. It also has 327/TH400/12 bolt. I'm very interested in what kind of mods you are going to do.
Suggestion: 1st mod --> Disc brakes. Don't go with a conversion kit. They use 11" rotors designed for smaller cars. 1969-70 Impala disc brakes uses 12" rotors and are a direct bolt-on. This combo makes my Impala the best stopping car I own. Also find a 12 bolt. Keep the Blue license plates.
I also have a SS hardtop, Marina Blue/black interior, 396/TH400/12 bolt.

It might have been. I don't remember.
And the Photochop job is dead on! Too bad it would never actually drive that low.

69-82 Corvette hubs and rotors interchange, using 69-70 caliper mounts!! Or use the entire Corvette 4-piston set up, a virtual bolt on. Big brakes are better!!
