Ride Along In A 258mph Firebird At Bonneville – Three Minutes Of Full Throttle SCREAM!

One of the least understood and most difficult places to drive really fast on planet Earth is Bonneville. The surface itself is salt and can best be described as feeling like someone coated a concrete floor with buckets and buckets of salt. Cars are never fully “hooked up” on the salt nor are they ever actually traveling in a perfectly straight line without judicious driver input. It is not uncommon for cars to spin at 200 or even 300mph and suffer little to no damage. .

In this video we see driver Bucky Gallimore get pushed off and then lay the pedal down en route to a 258mph lap of the salt. You can see him make gentle steering corrections to keep the machine between the wickets and you can certainly hear the motor working for a living for the entire length of the course. We’ve all had that dream of just standing on the  gas pedal and not letting up until we were out of gas, out of room, or caught by the cops. Gallimore had no such worries and he drove this sucker like a boss. The sound alone is worth the price of admission. Big suds, lots of gears, and a driver are the combo for building a winning effort.
