Bonneville Speed Week 2016: Think You’ve Seen It All? Not Even Close!

Bonneville Speed Week 2016: Think You’ve Seen It All? Not Even Close!

Brian and I have walked our proverbial asses off, looking at, drooling over, and shooting photos of killer stuff here on the salt during Bonneville Speed Week 2016, and just when you start to think you’ve seen it all something else comes around the corner and gives you lumber. Plus, Danny Thompson took his father’s Challenger II to a new record in AA/Fuel Streamliner at over 400 mph! We had an awesome morning hanging out with the 400 mph streamliner crews, including that of George Poteet, who is one of the nicest guys you will find on the salt. We also drooled over the Mariani and Ferguson streamliners, and even helped out with a thrash on the Flashpoint streamliner driven by Bob Dalton.

The fact that several of the Flashpoint crew are from our hometown of Morgan Hill California, and went to Live Oak High School with me, is cool but the true draw is the love of thrashing on race cars. Thankfully, after nearly grenading a setback blower on their first run today and then lighting most of the Racepak data system on fire, the seasoned crew was able to get it back together and fired up before the day was over. A few adjustments and they will be ready to run sometime tomorrow morning.

This is a sampling of what we say and we’ll have several more galleries of photos going up throughout the day.

Check out this cool gallery of the cars, drivers, and crews we got to check out.

I have heard you had an awesome photo of Jim Anderson strapping in Burl Brown in his Bonneville Racer this 2016. Really would like to see the photo and purchase for a Christmas gift. How do we locate the photo?
