2016 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Coverage: Incredible Machines Invade Greater Chicago!

2016 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Coverage: Incredible Machines Invade Greater Chicago!

(Words and photos by Bob Chiluk) – The 2016 version of the Muscle Car And Corvette Nationals blew in to the Windy City over the weekend and wowed all as it does every year. Show director Bob Ashton hit it out of the park again. We walk away each year thinking it can’t be topped and he proves us wrong each time.

The hand picked gems are scoured from around the country are gathered with a theme and mission to put together the rarest of the rare ,the one of ones and the best of the best. Feature year 1971 brought an assemblage of all factory sun roof cars down the main aisle.

Shelby Mustangs, Cobras and GT gathered in force. All real deal cars here. Seminars, car judging/verification and venders pack the covention hall from wall to wall. Mayor Stephens of Rosemont tossed us the keys to the place for after hours access to shoot our photos . Thanks Mayor!

(Editor’s note: This show has become a benchmark event for muscle car enthusiasts, collectors, and experts. Some of the most interesting and rare examples of the cars that we all know and love appear at this show each year, some seemingly out of the blue. We do not know how Bob Ashton keeps doing it but the guy maintains a level of awesome at this show that few others can match. People are calling it the “Pebble Beach” of muscle cars and we’re having a very hard time disagreeing with that statement.)

Cool to see a Monark Of Sweden motocross bike. I still have my Monark that I bought back in 1974.
I love that Hurst/Chrysler 300 convert. Is that one of the 2 real ones?

My friend John and I were there Sunday. This was Top Notch probably one of the Best ive been to.

The Best of the Best. People who owned the cars were friendly, easy to talk to and answer questions theyve probably heard a thousand times.
