2016 NMCA Bluegrass Nationals At Beech Bend: Friday’s Test And Tune Gallery

We told you that the day was going to be beautiful and it was. The 2016 NMCA Bluegrass Nationals at Beech Bend Raceway are in swing. Racers were still coming in, even after test and tune sessions kicked off. If you can’t find something you like here, either you are into diesels, imports, or hate drag racing…there is a wide array of vehicles here, from the nostalgia super stock cars of the early 1960s through the newest car we laid eyes on, a wicked, turbocharged S550 Mustang, and just about everything in between. Seriously…there’s a late 1970s “glasshouse” Caprice coupe that looks as menacing, clean and sounds like the business. There’s over fifty cars in the Nostalgia class alone!

The racing itself seems to be a mixed bag so far. The Nostalgia guys seem to have the track down pat, with several hanging the hoops and running clean. The Pro Mod guys are fighting tire shake issues, and it seemed like virtually all of the turbo guys were trying to run max boost on their first passes and would end up blowing the tires off before the sixty foot mark. Pro Mod driver Tim Miletti had a slight brush with the left-hand wall after his Camaro broke loose out of the left lane and tried to go into the right, otherwise it was a fairly drama-free day, which is always a good thing. One thing that we are looking forward to: the cooler weather for Saturday and Sunday racing.

Great pics wish I was there. Also good changes to your slide shows. They are loading much faster than they used to.
