(Words and Photos by Bob Chiluk) – This past summer when the Goodguys Rodfather Tour stopped at the Roasdster Shop just outside of Chicago, Chad and I agreed that we’d have to come back and cover this place for the Bangshift readership. Neil Gerber along with sons Phil and Jeremy run the 30,000 square foot mecca of metal.

Muscle machine of the year? Yeah they did it two years in a row with Innovator Nova and the C1-RS 62 Corvette. Throw in a few Street Rod of the year and Truck of the year contenders, some GoodGuys give away cars, and a bunch of cover cars so these guys do have the cred!

With their own in house team these guys covers artist renderings, engineering components, fabricating and building projects from mild to wild. Weather you need a component installed, a chassis built, or a complete turn key build, customers are lined up to have the wizards of these wheeled wonders work their craft. The beautiful two story showroom showcases some of their completed projects. A clean room for final assembly is immaculate. The fab room is jam packed with projects that always have the media waiting to cover them.

The Roadster Shop guys have been innovators in chassis and suspension technology that can make any car or truck handle like a sports car and cruise cross country. All their frames are laser cut and welded. In house engineered suspensions are a work of art in themselves that are all too nice to hide under a body. You can find the RS team at almost all GoodGuys autocrosses and many pro touring events across the country driving their masterpieces hard! Forward thinking and always innovating new products puts these craftsmen on the cutting edge of trends in the hobby and they are great guys, to boot!
