(Words and photos by Joe Grippo) – If you wanted a break from the on-track action, the midway had Jay Brown’s FE Power and Barry Robotnick’s Survival Motorsports and their bad ass parts on display and for sale. If you needed vintage or NOS stuff for your FE project the robust swap meet was hopping all day.
The ever expanding car show at the FE Race & Reunion always has some amazing things to see like an original 428 C/SA Fastback Mustang with 3500 miles fresh from long time storage to an outrageous Pro Street Fairlane detailed to the max. My head was spinning and my finger was snapping the camera trigger all day. Mustangs, Fairlanes, Galaxies, Thunderbolts, Torinos and cool odd ball swaps like an FE powered Maverick and even a Henry J were everywhere! Even some legendary FE racers like Ohio George Montgomery, Al Joniec and Dick Brannon were seen hanging around all weekend telling tales and shaking hands.
This event was conceived, born and nurtured by mainly three guys, Doug Bender, Jody Aberts and track owner Beaver Bob McCardle, along with some gracious volunteers and it has become a must attend for anyone who digs cool old iron not just the hardcore Ford folks. But let’s be honest, if you have an FE powered vehicle you NEED to be at the Beaver in 2018. The guys want to break the 200 car mark next year, help them do it, you will not regret it.
Keep an ear out, details for next year will be announced soon.
