(Photos by Mike Brooks) – There’s nothing like a great nostalgia drag race and car show to bring out the cool people and the cooler iron. Recently, our own Mike Brooks hit the road and spent the day at the 21st annual Sunday Niagra nostalgia drags and car show at Elegant Builders Raceway Park or what’s formerly known as Lancaster Dragway. The track is currently up for sale but in the context of this story, that means little. The event you’ll see in these photos has been going on for more than 20 years and it has continued to grow over that time. This year’s show was special because of the gassers that attended. Jim Oddy was there in his Junkyard Dog car, which makes sense because Oddy is a native son to this area.

Mike said that the weather this time around (the show was held on the rain date) was perfect and that the cool cars and trucks from the Buffalo area came out in force. We’re hoping that the track is bought by someone and touched up because the facility could use the world and the area could sure use a functional drag strip within a quick cruise of Buffalo.
