The Mid-West Pro Mod Association Hires Two New Heavy Hitters!

When the Mid-West Pro Mod Association announces they’ve hired a couple new heavy hitters with the names Cook and Goolsby it really excites us. David “Cookie” Cook is one of our favorite track prep, starter, race directors and for good reason. He’s a hell of a nice guy, extremely talented, and not afraid to work hard. We’re glad to see him in this roll as Series Race Director for sure. And on the other side of the event fence is Keith Goolsby, the new Marketing and Sales Director. He’s ready and excited to take the Mid-West Pro Mod Association to the next level and we are excited as hell to be a part of it.

These two guys are going to be a great addition and we’re excited to see how everything pans out. The Mid-West Pro Mod Association is excited as well, and you can tell it in their announcements below.

Here are the announcements from the Mid-West Pro Mod Association

The Mid-West Pro Mod Series Names David Cook Series Race Director

Tulsa, OK (Sep. 12, 2017) — The Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS), based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced today that it has named David “Cookie” Cook as its new race director. Cook also will oversee all track preparation efforts for the growing eighth-mile drag racing organization that typically appears as a supplemental draw for each host track’s regularly scheduled special events.
“I’m pretty excited about this,” Cook said. “There are a lot of race teams based in this part of the country but there’s not a lot of national touring series that come over this far, so I think the Mid-West Pro Mod Series really fills a void. It’s already well on its way to becoming one of the best Pro Mod series in the country and I’m ready to do whatever I can to help it get there as soon as possible.”

Cook, a highly experienced track prep specialist for Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park (TRP), previously held a similar position with the American Drag Racing League and Professional Drag Racers Association. He also travels annually to the Middle East to fill a similar role during the winter drag racing season in Qatar.

“We could not have found anyone better suited than Cookie to take on this job. He’s done a great job at Tulsa Raceway Park the last few years, he’s known as the best track prep guy in the country, and he’s an NHRA-certified tech inspector,” Mid-West Pro Mod Series founder and TRP co-owner Keith Haney stated. “This is the first time he’s officially taking on the race director’s job, but I have a-hundred-percent confidence that his knowledge and abilities are going to make him an equally great race director. So all race-day decisions for the Mid-West Pro Mod Series will be made by David Cook; tech will be run by David Cook; any rule disputes will be settled by David Cook.

“I’m just another racer when I’m at the track,” stressed Haney, who also competes in the series with his nitrous-injected 2014 Camaro. “As far as the Mid-West Pro Mod Series is concerned, whatever David Cook says, goes.”

Cook will tackle his new job for the first time Sep. 22-23, when the Mid-West Pro Mod Series competes in Texas at San Antonio Raceway, and then Oct. 13-14, at Tulsa Raceway Park. In addition to all race-day decisions and overseeing track prep for the series, he will be responsible for tech inspections, pairing up MWPMS competitors in the staging lanes and then weighing the cars upon exiting the track after making an official pass.

Haney said Cook also will be available for hire by each host race track as a track prep consultant or to physically prepare the racing surface for the entire event.

“I know most of the guys running with us and I know what they need to go fast,” Cook said. “This is a big opportunity for me and I can’t wait to get started.”

The Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS), based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced today that Keith Goolsby has been named its new Marketing and Sales Director.

“My primary goal is to increase sponsorships and build up the Mid-West Pro Mod Series purse,” Goolsby said. “But ultimately I just want to bring to tracks all across the Midwest a sponsor-heavy Pro Mod series that will fill the stands and at the end of the day send everyone home feeling happy and satisfied.”

Goolsby will work closely with Mid-West Pro Mod Series founder and Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park co-owner Keith Haney, who also competes in the series with his nitrous-boosted 2014 Camaro.

“We’re only three races into our inaugural season, but it’s already apparent the Mid-West Pro Mod Series is ready to take off and grow,” Haney said. “Keith already knows practically everyone at the race tracks we’re going to, plus he has a great reputation among our sponsors, so it’s a great fit all around for everybody involved. He brings a tremendous amount of experience to this role and he’ll make sure the sponsors will be taken care of——100 percent.”

A life-long drag racer, Goolsby began competing as a teenager in bracket racing and most recently drove from 2004 to 2011 in a supercharged ’55 Chevy Pro Mod he co-owned with Mitch Chance. In 2012, Goolsby worked with the American Drag Racing League as a sponsor marketing specialist, a role he continued the next year with the Xtreme Drag Racing League before stepping back to concentrate on his own business, Champion Auto Lift.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to help the Mid-West Pro Mod Series benefit our sponsors, as well as the racers and the tracks we visit,” Goolsby said. “And I think if you ask any marketing partner or sponsor that I’ve ever dealt with in the past they’d tell you that I always made sure they were promoted properly and equally and evenly, and if they ever had a concern I addressed it head on and as soon as possible to satisfy them completely.”

Goolsby lives with his wife, Sarah, in Branson, Missouri, where he also golfs competitively and plays bass in Oh, Happy Day, a gospel music show. He can be reached via e-mail sent to [email protected] or by phone at (417) 224-2348.

ABOUT THE MID-WEST PRO MOD SERIES

The Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) is an all-eighth-mile, no-profit organization that typically competes during each host track’s biggest event of the year. Its appearance is entirely funded by sponsorships passed along to benefit the host tracks (typically about $6,500), while also protecting sponsors if the event doesn’t happen for any reason by refunding sponsor payments for that event or allowing a carryover to the next MWPMS event. The Mid-West Pro Mod Series also provides trackside sponsor banners to be displayed at each event along with links to each company on the MWPMS website (www.MidWestProModSeries.com), plus an extensive social-media presence, e-mail blasts and commercials during all events. Complete class rules are posted on the MWPMS website.
