If this 1979 Impala wasn’t a wagon I wouldn’t care about it at all. They are a dime a dozen in California and this body style has never done anything for me. I know lots of people love them, and the platform is fun, but they just don’t get my revs up. Because this one IS a wagon, I kinda dig it. The fact that it has a newly built 350, only 80k miles, and appears to be in amazing condition is obviously a huge bonus, but it is the long roof that really turns my crank. I’d drive this sucker daily if it was in my driveway. But does that one aspect of this car make it more desirable to you? Or is it less desirable?
Which do you prefer, the long roof wagon or the sedan? We want to know.

Big thanks to Rocco Bastone for sending this one to us!
Crush it.
You can make a cool ride out of almost anything!! The fact that it is rust free is a plus! I’d drive it, with a few tweaks here and there!
The wagon body style is undeniably more practical than a sedan. More cargo room inside and on top, better weight distribution, and the ability to shuttle you, your family, and pit crew to the strip are all huge pluses. This is a very good find, would make a good, reliable all purpose daily now, could serve as a second utility vehicle in the future, and as a solid platform for a dragster in retirement from street life.
Love to have a big body wagon like that
