This Custom 1976 C10 Squarebody Short Bed Has A Twin Turbo Big Block And 1990s Style For Days

It’s funny how certain style of hot rods, race cars, and custom trucks just pull us into some period of our childhood and makes us want them. And other styles do the exact opposite. And then some folks want to only own cars and trucks that are timeless. But I think that most of us want both. It sounds selfish, but I don’t care. I want it all. So I want to own the square body Chevy pickup that is mellow and cool and that just has classic good looks and stance. But I also want totally dig some that are crazy period specific. The same thing goes for muscle cars and street machines and race cars. I like too many different ones to just choose one style to have. Sure, there are some I would choose to have if I could only have one, but if I had the means and opportunity, I would totally own them all.

This crazy one of a kind 1976 Chevy C10 is pro street greatness, but with all the 1990’s attitude you expect from the pages of every 1990s truck magazine. If it was mine I’d have to lower it at least 8 inches, and would make it easy by calling up the guys at Ridetech to get the right parts for this bad boy. And then I’d drive the hell out of it.

HERE IS ALL THE INFO FROM THE SELLER: CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE ORIGINAL AD, OR CALL THE SELLER AT THE NUMBER BELOW.

THE TRUCK IS IN SAN DIEGO. I’m sure you know that it certainly does not stand any chance of ever passing the California smog test that’s why the ad is here in Arizona.

I CAN HAVE IT PROFESSIONALLY DELIVERED TO ARIZONA FOR APPROXIMATELY $500.

This is a really cool 1976 Chevrolet C10 1/2 Ton Shortbed Hot Rod Pickup Truck that was previously a very high end show car. There are so many custom touches on it that it will be difficult to cover them all. But I will try. The heart of the beast is a Twin Turbo 468 cubic inch Big Block Chevy V-8 that the previous owner said he had over $18k just into the engine and it dynoed at 742 horsepower to the rear wheels. I have not taken it to the dyno myself but I can tell you that it is EXTREMELY fast. You would think that a monster like this would have a hard time being driven but this truck was DRIVEN 1800 miles from Missouri to California in the summer of 2018 getting 8 MPG. He drove 27 hours straight through with only a three hour stop to rest. It even made it through the 105 degree heat in the Arizona desert with no overheating problems. I’m not saying I would do that but it is pretty amazing. An additional fuel cell was professionally installed for the trip and they now both function as one tank. Built $3000 manual valve body Turbo 400 by Transmasters that is still under warranty. It was rebuilt in November 2020. Both turbochargers are new. Tubbed with Ford 9 inch rearend with Strange axles and a spool. It has an adjustable 4 link suspension and coil overs. Big aluminum radiator, electric fan. Four wheel disc brakes. Custom side exit exhaust. Custom headers. All four tires are new. Mickey Thompsons front and rear mounted on Weld wheels.

Everybody knows that 1970s Squarebody Shortbed Chevy and GMC trucks are as hot as anything right now. It is just getting difficult to find ones that are not rusted to death. Obviously, this one is never going to be restored back to stock but the body on this truck is excellent. No rust and extremely straight. It was done by a gentleman that owned a body shop for his personal use and it was done well. You can tell by the color scheme it was done in the 90s when mint green was all the rage. The paint still has a nice finish but does have a couple of small spots where the paint has chipped off. Shaved handles, Suicide doors, rolled rear pan, custom tail lights, billet grill, steel Cowl hood with hinges. The inside of the bed was nicely done. Some surface rust on the tubs that could easily be fixed with a scuff and shoot. Nice snap down soft Tonneau cover. Race bucket seats with B&M shifter. Custom dash. The dashpad was recovered in gray cloth and certainly needs to be re-covered again. I would re-do it in black vinyl or leather. Stock door panels. Custom dark gray headliner and carpet. It does not have a roll cage. The windows still roll up and down normally. Monster Tach on dash. Autometer white faced gauges. Grant GT steering wheel.

The truck is not overly loud and obnoxious sounding unless you get into it and then, man, does it sound mean! Please understand this is no ordinary 6 cylinder, three on the tree Farm Truck. It is very drivable but it is a monster when you want it to be. It is not for the first time Hot Rodder. You can hit the key and go but I would probably look into the steering set up as it has more play in it than I like. I have another tilt column for it. As you can probably guess, it has an unbelievable amount of money invested into it over the years. You can go a few different directions with this truck. One: you can drive it, enjoy doing burnouts with your buddies, and be the hit of any local Cruise Night. Two: you can update the cosmetics like I was going to in Black with Red interior and have a very high dollar truck that will win trophies at any Car Show. Three: Completely update it to a modern Pro Touring style look like alot of people are doing with Pro Street cars these days and win a trophy anywhere on the planet. You could make a name for your shop or have the ultimate shop truck with this thing. Whatever you choose, you could never come close to building this truck for this price. I just need some room.

Clean, clear title in hand. I would consider doing some horsetrading on an interesting Corvette, Muscle Car, or a steel body Hot Rod. Please be realistic with your trades. Just because you don’t want your junk any more doesn’t mean that I do either. I am located in Cardiff, CA in North County Coastal San Diego. Inspections in person are encouraged. Do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers. 760-805-8038
