I still can’t get over the fact that this is going on at dragstrips around the country, because it just seems like it would be so much work to clean up, but it surely is. What is it though? What the hell is demolition drag racing? Well it goes like this. Line two cars up on the starting line of a drag strip and when the light turns green they leave, and the first one to the finish line wins. Oh, but somewhere between 60 feet and the finish line the two cars MUST touch. If you do not touch then the racer who crosses the finish line first is disqualified. It means that the races have a strange sort of pace to them, because so many guys want to creep out of the hole and then play cat and mouse to see who can disable the other or spin them out first, but regardless it is pure comedy and the ones that really hammer it are a riot to watch.

As you can imagine, the cars suck, but that doesn’t really matter and on occasion a cool ride actually does come up. Yes, it is still something you would be willing to crash, but it isn’t something lame like an old Mazda 3.
