DANGER: Stop Installing Harmonic Balancers The Wrong Way! Doug And Chad Both Tell You The Why’s And How’s!

Harmonic balancer, damper, whatever you call it, the job of installing them is often a confusing and intimidating one. If this describes your first time installing one, count yourself as one of the smart people, because at least you knew it was something you should take seriously. If you did your research, got the right tools, and realized it isn’t that hard then you are a genius and should pat yourself on the back. If however you got out the torch and a hammer, you are an idiot. Sorry, someone had to say it. In the videos that follow you’ll hear why, and how to properly install them. The first video is one we made for Blueprint Engines a couple years ago and the second one is from Doug and the gang at Motion Raceworks.

We’ve all seen too many balancer failures in the last year or so and many are because they were improperly installed. When one comes off the crank at 7,000 rpm intact it hauls ass wherever it wants to go and is a danger to anyone around it. If it breaks as it comes off it becomes a high speed piece of shrapnel that could kill someone or tear up a car real bad. Watch the videos below, and learn something.

how to remove would be a useful vid too . trying to reset ign timing with many attempts . ( dont matter what engine ) found out gear puller was used on outer ring and broke rubber bond . they hit the outer ring back on with a hammer . I
thought the dizzy was moving under the clamp .
