Bonneville Speed Week 2016 Photos: A Fresh Batch Of Photos From The Salt We Never Ran! Engines, Cars, More

Well as it sometimes happens we shoot like half a billion photos at and event and before we get to run them all we’re off to the next thing. Apparently that’s what happened to this group of photos I shot at Bonneville Speed Week 2016 on the Bonneville Salt Flats. We obviously do our best to cover the event in a “wall to wall” fashion each day that we are there and I am guessing someone’s record or something else outstanding knocked these photos off of my electronic desk here.

The gallery is filled with images of race cars in impound and heading to the starting line. There are tons of engine photos in here from boosted four bangers to injected V6 mills, to V8s of different shapes and stripes. Speed Week is slated to be run (as it is every year) in August and we’re looking forward to brining you the best we can each and every day of the vent. There’s a LOT of water on the salt right now and we know it is the season for such things but the inspections of the surface will be starting soon enough and we’ll keep our ears to the tracks in hopes of understanding the condition of the salt under all that water now.

Here’s to hoping for thicker salt, faster salt, and great weather in 2017!

it would be interesting to see images on how they actually prep track before speed week begins, even from a drone’s perspective.

Not that interesting. Picture a truck with a big steel beam behind it dragging along the ground driving up and down the course.
