But “Safety Vehicle”! This 1975 Bricklin SV-1 Is One Angry Canadian Import!

But “Safety Vehicle”! This 1975 Bricklin SV-1 Is One Angry Canadian Import!

By all accounts, Malcom Bricklin’s self-named car company was an abysmal failure. He pissed off Canadians…do you know just how bad you have to screw up before the Canadians are done with you?! It’s not that his vision for the perfect safety vehicle was a bad one…bright colors, V8 power and an integrated roll cage are actually pretty neat features, but bonding plastics to fiberglass didn’t work well (body panels would crack and separate) and by the time 3,000 vehicles had been produced over the course of two model years, Bricklin was in receivership and the government of New Brunswick was coming to terms with just how badly they had been worked over.

In person, a Bricklin has a pretty sporty look…it compares well against a C3 Corvette. But this thing…holy hell, if Malcom saw what someone did to his beloved Safety Vehicle…

I knew a guy in high school, during the late 70’s who father had bought one as a collector car. Probably didn’t work out.

  2. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

This orange turd cries its eyes out every day of its sad existence and should be crushed (along with its builder) out of general principles of decency!

I’ll buy it and crush it if you promise to put your limey ass in it when it goes in the crusher. Hell, I’ll bet your relatives and neighbors would love to contribute to that noble cause.
