Scotty Cannon and Alan Pittman have one of the most compelling stories in the world of Radial vs The World racing and since they are going to be back on the big stage this weekend at Lights Out 9, this video is perfectly timed. Our pal Hans who runs Free Life Films put this video together that shows basically every run that the Husband-in-Law Racing radial vs the world car has made in competition.
If you know anything about door slammer drag racing you know that Scotty Cannon is one of the biggest historical figures in pro modified drag racing. Alan Pittman has been a long time chassis builder and racer that has racked up his own impressive resume. The two of them got together and decided to take a car that Scotty Cannon Jr. had driven to a pro mod championship years ago, install radials on it, and attack the most insane class in drag racing. Well, everyone kind of snickered at these two “old guys” waltzing into the track with their (literal) short bus tow rig and seemingly disheveled appearance. They did not laugh for long.
It took the guys a little while to get a real handle on how to run the radials but they did it a lot quicker than everyone expected them to. Take that and the fact that these are guys who know how to race the right way and all of a sudden you have a car that has gone rounds at basically every RvW event is has ever attended. They have seen the bottom of the 3.80-second realm and there’s still more to go with their roots blown Brad Anderson hemi powering the car.
This video rules because you will see their performance evolution and you will see the incremental progress they have made. Notice one thing, they very rarely if ever beat themselves. They set that car up to go down the track every single run. They may get out run now and again but they make every round hard on the competition!
