Copycat Killer: The Hoonicorn Takes On Rob Dahm’s Psychotic 4-Rotor RX-7

Copycat Killer: The Hoonicorn Takes On Rob Dahm’s Psychotic 4-Rotor RX-7

“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”, so the saying goes. And that’s very fair. For someone to go out of their way to duplicate what someone else has done to the finest detail, that’s legitimate. Some would argue that it’s a bit lazy because there is a touch of originality lost. But when someone takes this “flattery” to the extreme…you know, measuring pixels, calling suppliers and claiming to work for your company…what does that mean? Well, in this case, it means that there is a genuine “grudge” aspect to the grudge race that is going to go down between Ken Block’s “Hoonicorn” Ford Mustang (you know, that twin-turbocharged, four-wheel-drive rolling testament to sheer adrenaline) and Rob Dahm’s four-wheel-drive, four-rotor FD RX-7. Looks like a case of same dish, different flavor, right? Dahm’s car might be one of the most hyped-up builds simply due to the engine…you know, internet speak “OMGWTFBBQ4ROTORROFLCOPTER” kind of thing.

One’s proven. One is sketchy. One will win, The other will self-destruct trying. Champion, meet the challenger.

The Hoonicorn may have won the match, but it’ll never achieve the Coolness Factor of the DahmBeast. The rotary engine sounds like a screaming banshee, while the mousetang sounds like an overheated steam kettle. Make mine the DahmBeast any day….

Lucky it was his hood and not a drivetrain failure. Do these guys have zero concept of what would happen to the driver if something let go?
Let alone having an open driveshaft spinning under the drivers arm, I don’t think this car would pass scrutineering anywhere.
