Listen Up: Doug Kalitta, Ron Capps, and Mike Galimi On The NHRA Insider Podcast! Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Drag Radial Preaching

We’re back with the NHRA Insider podcast and this time we have Doug Kalitta, Ron Capps, and Mike Galimi. This is a wide ranging discussion that includes the titanic driving performance of Doug Kalitta in Pomona, Ron Capps talking about the insane lead-up to the NHRA Winternationals, his role as a driver in the sport, and Mike Galimi who is a drag racing journalist that knows small tire and radial racing like none other. We discuss Stevie Fast Jackson’s success at Lights Out 11 and his rise to the top of the small tire and door slammer drag racing game.

Doug Kalitta is an interesting interview. We get some insight into the way he attacks the track and specifically about what it is like to pedal a top fueler, how you can rise to the occasion when the situation calls for it, and how he thinks he will fare over the course of the 2020 season, especially with the rise in the competitive level of the drivers.

Ron Capps tells some incredible stories about the insanity of his life after the trailer fire that claimed race cars, bodies, tools, parts, pieces, and basically everything but the spirit of his experienced team. There are some really mind-boggling feats of endurance and dedication performed to get his stuff ready to compete in Pomona. Ron also talks about the argument between entertainment and competition in drag racing, which is insightful and cool.

Finally, my pal Mike Galimi comes on the show for the first time and we talk about the monster that Stevie Fast Jackson has become both in the NHRA E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod series and the world of outlaw drag radial competition with his Shadow 2.0, which is undefeated in competition so far in 2020. There’s history, insight, and stuff you never knew in this one.

Let’s talk drag racing!
