It’s on, the Fall Fling at Bristol’s Thunder Valley is happening all week long! Everyone is excited to get this party started, and the racers have a treat coming as the purse has increased this year and is being paid out earlier in the event than ever before. That means the racers that are going rounds are going to be rewarded even if they aren’t the only one left standing at the end. We’ve talked to racers over the years about the practice of splitting the purse in late rounds, and most of them say that the reason for it is that the payout is proportional to the amount of work you put in to get to the later rounds. In other words, you might have to go 5 or 6 or 7 rounds to get to where they payout is something good, and yet the overall winner will end up with a huge payout for just going two more rounds than that.

I’m not one for splitting, but I understand where they are coming from, so when the Fling decided to put out a revised purse that is going to pay more, and earlier, the racers were stoked. In fact, the Fling let the racers decide on what purse structure they wanted!
