March Meet Photos: Hot Rods, Customs, And More In The Famed Grove

March Meet Photos: Hot Rods, Customs, And More In The Famed Grove

Our fourth gallery of photos from Wes is full of nothing but hot rods, customs, trucks and more in the Grove at the 2022 March Meet. If you aren’t familiar, the Grove is the area behind the main grandstand, planted with a grove of trees, and includes plaques for hundreds of historically significant racers and crew. It’s a special place, and one that we always love to walk through. This is cool stuff. If you missed our previous gallery you can use the link below to check them out too.

(Photos by Wes Allison) The 2022 March Meet is in the books and boy was it rad! Okay, so it started out a bit moist, but it turned out okay with bitchin hot rods, race cars, and more on the property for the finest nostalgia drag race in the world. There, I said it. It is the truth because the March Meet is something truly special and an event that will always be near and dear to my heart. We live-streamed the March Meet for many years and people still ask us if we are going to even though it has been a few years now since we had to stop. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to do what we can to make sure you have great photo coverage from this epic spot.

Held each year in McFarland California, just north of Bakersfield, the March Meet is one of the oldest drag races in the country. Famoso Dragstrip is as modern as they come when it comes to track surface, but features the old-school charm and feel that you only get from an old dragstrip. There are no fancy jumbotrons, not huge tower with VIP suites, and there is more space at the fence taken up by motorhomes than bleachers which is just the way we like it. But every year in March the die-hard fans flock to Famoso for the March Meet and make a festival out of what has become one of the most iconic races in the world.

This new gallery of photos from Wes Allison is all about nostalgia door cars and we dig them.  Check them out, and remember you can click on any photo below to make them large so you can swipe through them like a slide show.

Somebody needs to do a feature on that 70s era Kellison. Haven’t seen a paint job like that in ages. Plus…the cool vents cut into the back ‘glass’ tell me this could well be a classy build.

Road trip up to Washington, guys?

Thanks for the Grove pics. Didn’t make it there this year and was feeling Grove deprived. Much appreciation.
