NHRA Denso Spark Plugs 4-Wide Nationals Photo Coverage: Top Fuel Action From The Strip In The Desert

(Photos by Wes Allison) – There is no accurate way to describe the noise that occurs when four top fuel drivers make complete pulls down the drag strip simultaneously. It’s basically hell with the lid off and even from across the street or miles down the highway, you can hear it. Truly, sensory overload. For the drivers in the NHRA top fuel division it was not just the noise but the confusion and madness of four wide competition at Las Vegas that really had them humming. There were some odd runs made in qualifying and Billy Torrence left on the flash of the stage bulbs during eliminations, proving that this style of competition does continue to throw curves at people, even those with experience.

Here’s a load of fun top fuel photos from Las Vegas. The NHRA is gearing up for next week’s running of the Southern Nationals at Atlanta and it will be a historic final national event at that facility. We’ve got some more fun from the desert to share in the coming days. Stay tuned!
