Wild Machine: Watch This Nissan Patrol Make 2,400hp On The Dyno With A 5.3L Nissan Inline Six

This right here is wild. You are going to see a Nissan Patrol built for the Aussie version of Drag Week known as “Drag Challenge” make more than 2,400hp on the hub dyno using an engine that’s not the norm. Yes, we have come to know and love the inline six world around here. The huge power, the seemingly cheap price of entry for things like an RB series Nissan or a Barra Ford, but this is neither of those. This is a TB series Nissan engine, which was the larger displacement inline six family that came in these Patrol trucks. They have some inherent issues that scare most people off of hot rodding them to this level but as is being proven here, these engines are insanely capable.

Displacing over 4 liters from the factory, with a bore job and a stroker crank this thing is a legit 5.3L honker. The long stroke and larger displacement mean that the power shows up at lower RPM levels and that’s a good thing for the life of the engine. As you’ll hear the builder talk about, a lot of dyno pulls have you cringing by the top of them but this one is over seemingly before it starts.

This truck is bad ass. The engine is the centerpiece but you’ll get a tour of the whole rig right here.
