PDRA Drag Wars Coverage From GALOT Motorsports Park: Doors Were Slammed And Horsepower Was Wrought

PDRA Drag Wars Coverage From GALOT Motorsports Park: Doors Were Slammed And Horsepower Was Wrought

(Photos by David Whealon) – There are lots of people out there on social media who love to complain about drag racing. They beat the same, tired, idiotic drum that the sport peaked decades ago and that there is not nearly as many people racing or places to see drag racing. These people are among the few on Earth that can actually make me angry. Why? Blatant stupidity does that to me. Listen, there is more drag racing now than ever. If you dislike the NHRA you can follow a myriad of other styles of competition, the PDRA among them. This sanctioning body races on the eighth mile and the run a wide variety of cars and motorcycles that range from sportsman to the blindingly fast Pro Boost and Pro Nitrous categories.

The PDRA Drag Wars race which was held a short while ago was well attended by fans and racers. The Carolinas have long been the home of fast door car style competition and the love for this style of racing runs deep. GALOT Motorsports Park was home to the event and its legendarily hard hooking surface sent some of the meanest cars in the nation straight down the strip with the candles lit.

David Whealon’s photos below will show you the breadth and depth of the competition diversity that the PDRA has. The bikes are mean, the cars are mean, and the show was great.
