The annual party of the quarter-mile street-driven freaks that is known as Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week is approaching again. For everyone who wanted an East Coast-biased Drag Week, this year is your year: Virginia Motorsports Park, Cecil County Dragway, ATCO Dragway and Maryland International are the tracks. September 8th, 2019 seems like a ways away, but unless this is your first time ever looking at doing Drag Week and you’ve done exactly zero research, let us clue you in on a little secret: getting one of the racing slots combines the fun of the Internet with the everybody-rush-at-once mentality of a Black Friday shopping mob: you need to be ready, you need to be quick, and you need to know where to go to make sure that you aren’t left out in the cold when the time comes to register. Which, by the way, is coming up fast. How fast? You’ve got just over a week before registration opens up. That’s right, readers, ONE WEEK to make sure your rear is in gear and you’re ready to spam your entry form in the hopes that you get your confirmed entry into a week-long dragstrip party!
Registration will open up on February 23rd, 2019 at 9:00 A.M. Pacific time/12 Noon Eastern. Make sure that you have your appropriate licenses for your E.T. and MPH range that you want to participate in, make sure that you have good credit card information, and make sure that you fully fill out the form, otherwise there is a good chance that it will be kicked back to you. And that does mean put something in the insurance block, even if the car is still currently a frame on jackstands, an engine on a stand and a bunch of stuff in five-gallon buckets in your shop at the moment…as long as you have a legit proof of insurance when you show up, you’ll be fine. If you’re 16-17 years old and want to play, you can, but your parent/guardian must register and use their credit card for the transaction, they must list you as the racer, and the parent/guardian must be at the entire Drag Week event, each stop, every day. The wait list will be in effect as well, so if you don’t make it in on the rush, throw your name down ASAP for your best shot of competing. 
Remember, registration goes live February 23rd, so set your alarms, schedule on your calendar, write a note and leave it on your computer screen…whatever it takes!
