This Sleeper Dodge Ram Can Move And Scoot, But Nobody Is Going To Be Happy With How It Does It

This Sleeper Dodge Ram Can Move And Scoot, But Nobody Is Going To Be Happy With How It Does It

First things first: that 1988 Dodge Ram isn’t a Cummins truck, which is the most common thought when you see one pulling onto the starting line. Most Ram owners won’t take on a Nissan GT-R unless they’re packing something damn serious under the hood, and this truck, launching in 4wd, has more than enough guts to kick around not only said Nissan, but a C7 Stingray and a supercharged Mustang. It launches hard off of the line and pulls like a freight train to the end. So what’s under the hood? Big block? Old-school Hemi?…no, you can hear turbos…oooh, maybe a late-model Hemi?

Nope. This is the “Ramaro”, and it’s packing everybody’s favorite whipping boy of an engine, an LS…in this case, it’s an LS2 that’s force-fed by a Precision 88mm ball-bearing turbo that’s assisted with an intercooler. Power? Unknown. Nitrous? There might be a 100-shot on it. Whatever the case, it’s being pushed through a “homebuilt” 4L60E automatic and through what looks to be stock Ram running gear, though we bet both differentials have been strengthened. The Ramaro’s run against the GT-R is it’s fastest ET yet. Let the hate comments begin…

lemme be the first to yawn

just kidding. I love the LS, it’s just not the prettiest thing I’ve laid eyes on. I get not wanting to saddle it with a Chevy body though. haha.

that’s pretty awesome sleepiness though – 10.9 truck is nothing to laugh at.

I’d rather it have a turbo 3g Hemi or 360 or Cummins but I’m not going to rag on it for NOT having those powerplants. Anything that can beat an R35 is A-OK in my book.

While I’d have done a big block Mopar swap there, I’m not going to get too worked up about “desecrating” a beater truck, and there’s no arguing with the timeslip.
