The Vent Helps: Would You Have Ever Expected A Fox LTD To Move Like This?

The Vent Helps: Would You Have Ever Expected A Fox LTD To Move Like This?

The Fox-body Ford LTD was a stop-gap deal: It was an improvement over the Fairmont sedan that it replaced, but it only existed to pull a few more dollars out of the Fox tooling before the Ford Tempo came online. Remember, when this car was new, the Mustang was supposed to go front-drive by the end of the decade and the Taurus was the most exciting project that Ford had going. Unless you were lucky enough to get your hands on an LTD LX or drove one of the 5.0/five-speed LTDs that Bondurant had ordered from Ford, you didn’t mistake the Fox LTD for a performance machine.

What we know about this particular car is only just a touch more than what you know: it’s not packing a Ford mill (our money: LS) and it’s on nitrous. And then there’s that hood vent tube. Point and laugh all you want, but it’s a fact that if you can get the air to ram down the throat easily, it’s easy power. The way this Ford leaves, it must work!
