Watch This Super Stock D/Modified Corvette Attack Orlando Speed World In ’87 – Huge Revs, Bang Shifting!

We have to thank BangShifter Bob Chambers for the link to the video you’ll see below. The footage comes from a Saturday at Orlando Speed World drag strip circa 1987 and it features the awesome super stock D/Modified Corvette run by a guy named Randy Harrison. Being a D/modified car you get to hear big revs, you get to listen to Harrison karate chop it between the gears and you get to enjoy the huge forward rake and chin scraping look of the big tired super stocker.

These days Randy Harrison is still burning up drag strips as a stock eliminator competitor. As best we can tell is is competing in a K/stock automatic third generation Camaro. Chambers who sent us the email reports that the Corvette has been put back on the street and it is cruising the highways and byways around the Tampa, Florida or at least it was back in 2013. That’s pretty cool in our eyes. Earlier Corvettes in class racing are not exactly growing on trees anymore. As their values continue to climb the cars are more and more finding their way back to the streets or they are being restored and sold as investment properties. There was a long stretch when the legacy of “America’s sports car” was not nearly as valuable as it is now. We’ve got a huge soft spot for the dual headlight cars that ran from 1958-1962 like this one.

While watching this video and falling in love with the sights and sounds of the car, pay attention to what Speed World looks like. That places has evolved a LOT over the years. It was lots different and lots more stark looking back then. If you win Powerball, can you buy us one of these?
