Paul Bunyan had Babe, his trusty blue ox. Jason Carter and Mark Micke have their blue 1978 Chevy Malibu, which stands as the baddest Radial vs The World car in the history of the class and one of the most awesomely significant cars in the history of small tire drag racing. This thing has had every possible engine combo in it, including turbocharged before it was cool. Long ago and in a lad far far away, Job Spetter and the Turbo People company were front and center on this thing.

As time progressed the car ran through an ever more serious set of small tire categories, ultimately ending up at the pinnacle of small tire racing, Radial vs The World. Winning the $101,000 DuckX Sweet 16 was the car’s ultimate achievement so far but this thing is far from done as you’ll hear Mark Micke talk about in this video.

There are a few logic defying factors that contribute to the fan love of this car. For starters the wheelbase is effectively stock, the car is largely steel, and it uses a turbocharged stock bore spacing big block Chevy engine that gets tractor puller levels of boost put through it. The car has run the quickest and fastest times in the history of Radial vs The World competition, recording elapsed times in the 3.60s and making speeds of over 220mph in the eighth mile.

The rolling blue box does not present itself like the pro mod bodied cars that had waded into the class. It looks all the world like an underdog…and then you see it run.
