Is This The World’s Most Unassuming 150mph, 10-Second Drag Car? Plain White Wrapper Hatch Back ‘Yoda From Australia

I’m not sure what the level above sleeper is or the level below sleeper as that may be the more appropriate direction but this little Toyota Starlet in Australia is on that level. A plain white wrapper with a little drag slick on the front, this thing looks like it’ll go 13s or whatever all day long and then it rockets down the track like its hair is on fire. According to the description on the video, the engine is a 1.5L (Yes, 90ci) four banger with a Turbonetics turbo, Wolf EFI, and a power output of somewhere around 440hp at the tires. That is big time snot from a teacup of an engine.

We had  no idea that Toyota was still making Starlets as the only ones we tend to see here in the USA at strips are the old square ones that dudes shove full of nasty rotary power and race. Those are largely ill-handling rear wheel drive cars through, certainly not front wheel drive and virtually stock looking like this one. The track manners of the car seem to be OK, it is not crazily hunting or darting around, it is obviously not too harsh on front end parts because this wasn’t a video of the car eating half shafts and stuff. It leaves hard enough but the coals really get poured on once that little tire is hooked up and rolling down the track. There are some close up shots of the tire rolling out of the hole and it barely even hits is hard enough to make the wall wrinkle. Pay attention to how the thing starts working a couple hundred feet down course. Woah, buddy!

Lastly, there doesn’t appear to be a bar in the car, it is in factory blah white paint, and people wouldn’t stop to pee on this thing because it would simply blend into the environment wherever you were cruising. That’s the definition of a sleeper in our book. This car isn’t trying to look ratty or bland, it is just more plain than white office paper and that’s the best thing about it….and the 10-second time slips. We’re in love.

    Amazing!

To get all that power from a teacup!

I’d go Chevy hunting with this and would laugh at the embarrassed drivers who got blown off by a little white stock hatchback.

Please explain? The car launches hard, both tires are traction; If you were expecting 1.4 or lower 60 ft time then you have the wrong perspective.
