American Powertrain Parting Shift: Watch This Road Racer Attack Sebring In A Stock Car With A Clutchless Trans

On the list of parts we someday aspire to own, a clutchless manual transmission in on them. Why? Because we want to be a boss like the guy in this video who is lapping Sebring in what looks to be an old NASCAR stock car while ripping up and down the gears. It does not seem like this driver has it on kill and it does seem that he is being nice and smooth as he laps the track. The transmission shifts like butter and the small block engine sounds pretty heavenly as he winds it up down the straights and out of the corners.

We don’t think that we are the only ones out there with a list of parts we someday dream of being able to afford and use. Hell, we once knew a guy who bought a magnesium cased drag racing manual transmission and never actually had a car to put it in before he sold the thing. Insane? Sure it is but that’s hot rodding. For a long time, hot rodders were only able to visualize what having something like this transmission would be. Now with internet video we can openly lust for it and KNOW how awesome it is. Progress? You decide.

Maybe you think that a clutchless manual transmission is cheating. Maybe you think that double clutching and rev matching the old fashioned way is the best. That’s fine and we agree that those skills are totally great and diminishing in the world today but when you watch this guy zip around the track, how could you possible NOT want a go, right?

Press play to see this guy go ripping around Sebring, grabbing gears with no clutch
