Apex Predator: A 1995 Pontiac Firebird That Is Dying To Hit The Apexes!

Apex Predator: A 1995 Pontiac Firebird That Is Dying To Hit The Apexes!

In nature, the contrast of black and a bright, vibrant color is usually a form of aposematic coloring. Big word, I know, but you know what it means. When you see a black and white furry animal that looks like a really hairy cat running in your backyard, you know to stay away unless you want to smell like five gallons of fermented garbage juice. When you see something small, yellow and black, flying around you making a buzzing noise, you know to get the hell out of Dodge before you’re plucking a stinger out of your skin. So what does red and black mean? Honestly, there is no set determination on what the color means. That’s just meant to warn other animals that things will go down if they attempt to attack or eat.

Black and red does suit our subject, a 1995 Pontiac Firebird, quite nicely. The Powell Motorsports-built F-body looks ready to hit the track the second the 500+ horse 383ci LT-1 gets warmed up. That’s right, LT-1…make your Optispark jokes now, because that’s plenty of power to hurt feelings if the rest of the chassis is up for the game..and because an LTCC kit has deleted that troublesome item. QA1 single-adjustable coilover shocks work up front while Penske 8100 rear shocks do work out back. The large wing, large splitter, and gumball rubber supplants the warning that the colors are meant to showcase: don’t try to challenge this Firebird. Things are probably not going to go your way.
