Project Binky Update: Reassembly Is Well Underway! When Will It Make Its First Drive?

Project Binky Update: Reassembly Is Well Underway! When Will It Make Its First Drive?

Well, it is moving forward. Not under its own power, but it is moving forward and we are so excited. The electronics, mechanicals, and more are all going in or getting ready to go in because this little car has a date with some gasoline, oil, and tire rubber. We can’t wait to see it all come together, and in this episode you do get to see quite a lot happening. Stay tuned for the next episode as it will have even more going in as it gets closer and closer to driving!

Project Binky has been a long time in the making and I’m proud to say that I’ve been following the project since it started. What a great project, with amazing fabrication, and intense creativity. In the previous installments, you saw the awesome bodywork and paint that went into making this sucker pretty, and the start of reassembly had begun. Now that every component that has to be installed has been completely refurbished, finished, etc. it is time for all that to get bolted into this crazy Mini. It is now powered by a complete Celica GT awd turbo combo, and the way it all fits and works is truly something to admire. I love this car more than I can explain, and it is because the thought and fabrication that have gone into it are so inspiring. I mean it is trick, but at the same time feels like something anyone could do if they put the same thought into it.

Cardboard aided drafting is on point with this car, as is the use of stock components when possible. This car is extreme, but should be mostly repairable with parts you can get at your average auto parts store. Who doesn’t love that. We can’t wait to see it all together and then on the road being thrashed.
