Goodguys Announces 2018 Schedule And New Goodguys Autocross Rules

Goodguys Announces 2018 Schedule And New Goodguys Autocross Rules

The 2018 Goodguys event schedule is out and it is time for you to start planning for the events you are coming to. And if you are planning to come out and AutoCross at a Goodguys event, we’ve also got the new 2018 rules. All Goodguys shows are now open to more years of cars, including the autocross, and that means you can bring even more hot rods out to the show. We are always excited about a Goodguys show, and with good reason. They are full of bitchin cars, trucks, parts, tools, and more, along with thousands of like minded kick ass car folks. The schedule is below as are the current autocross rules. Check them out and then come join us in 2018 at any one of the awesome Goodguys shows.

Goodguys AutoCross continues to get bigger, faster and more action-packed! And 2018 will bring some important changes that are sure to ratchet up the cone-dodging thrills.

For starters, each national event will now include a 16-car Shootout on Saturday late afternoon or evening (the Shootout will be on Sundays at All American Get-Togethers). The 16-car field will be comprised of the quickest 16 cars, regardless of class, so the fastest Street Machine, Hot Rod and Truck competitors may very well face off against PRO-class racers.

Additionally, the Street Machine, Hot Rod and Truck classes will adopt a season point structure. At each event, first to tenth place in each of these classes will receive points (10 for first, and one for 10th). Season points champions will not only earn bragging rights, but will also get a feature in the Goodguys Yearbook. This provides great incentive and potential reward for non-PRO competitors who compete at multiple Goodguys events. As a class winner (PRO or otherwise), if you win your class and the shootout at a national event, you could come away with 31 points for the weekend.

Each National event you will be running to win your class and qualifying for the event shootout all day
Friday and Saturday until 3pm (unless event hours are 8pm then it would be 6pm). We will run in order
of the pit stall, so everyone gets the same runs each day. At 3pm or 6pm we will set the 16-car ladder
from the events best times in qualifying and those cars will be part of that event shootout.
At the Pleasanton Get-Togethers, we will have qualifying all day Saturday and Sunday until 11am and
then set the 16-car ladder for the shootout. The top two cars 1987 and older in appearance will get the
invite to the Duel in the Desert Shootout held in Scottsdale, AZ. There will be NO shootout points.
Points for the National event shootouts will be 20 for first, 15 for second, 10 for third and 5 for fourth.
Tech will open about one hour before racing starts. Please stay with your car until it has made it through
tech and you have your decal. If you come to the starting line and are not teched you will be sent back
to your pit stall and lose your turn for that run. Pit space is limited and will be first come first serve. If
stalls become open during the day, we will fill with cars from the waiting area.
If the track needs to be altered during competition, all times will be thrown out and new times will be
run for all participants with time permitting.
Re-runs or round robins must be at least 10 cars or 10 minutes between runs.
All American Late Models Sunday only at National Events. (Except Nashville and Charlotte)
• All American Made or American Powered 1988 and newer cars and trucks will be in this class

• Car safety rules and car general rules will be enforced for this day as well.
• All American Sunday-Class vehicles must be 1988 or newer in appearance, representing a
production car or truck.
• The All-American Sunday-Class will be running with a point system for the season winner. Each
event that you run, you will get 1 point for running the event and first to tenth place will get
points ten for first and one for tenth in the AAS-Class. The season winners will get a feature in
the Goodguys Yearbook.
Shootout Invite:
Only the top two in the event shootouts will go to the Duel in the Desert Shootout. If they decline or are
already in the shootout that spot will go to the race in spots at the Duel in the Desert Shootout.
