Crazy: This Guy Is Trying To Sell Monte Carlo Aero Coupes By The Bunch – Five For $55,000

Crazy: This Guy Is Trying To Sell Monte Carlo Aero Coupes By The Bunch – Five For $55,000

We all know the story about the Monte Carlo Aero Coupes that Chevrolet produced in order to be more competitive on the high banks of NASCAR tracks, right? We all know that they were made in limited numbers. Super limited in 1986 and still pretty limited in 1987. We know that the glass is stupid expensive to get if you need it and that while the cars did not perform any better than the other road going variants of the Monte Carlo SS that they are worth more because of their relative rarity. Knowing all of this stuff then, it was pretty wild to find a guy on eBay selling five of the cars as a group and looking for some real money for ’em.

This guy is trying to pull a five for $55,000 deal and while we know that the cars are not going to drop in value over the years, we are not sure this is the right deal for the right time if you know what we are saying. If these cars were all showroom perfect and beautiful we can basically see the money that this dude is asking for. These cars are not showroom beautiful. They are complete and intact as best we can tell but they all need some work from cosmetic to otherwise.

There were barely more than 100 of these cars made in 1986 and this dude has five of them. That’s dedication to the cause. We’re just wondering if there’s a G-body freak or a group of G-body freaks dedicated enough to buy this lot and lovingly restore them to their glory. The parts are out there, the cars can be fixed up, and boy would we love to see them 20 years from now at a show!

What is easier to find: One guy who will pay $55,000 for five Aerocoupes, or five guys who will pay an average of $11,000 each? Not sure what his reasoning is here, unless he really doesn’t want to break up the family.

After seeing an ( story on BangShift) AMC Matador recently go for this similar price,I am mildly concerned about all the stuff we never gave a look to or when we did,didn\’t think it worthy of anything.

I remember talking to someone in their early 80s about 25 years ago.
He said they would drive cars like \’32 Fords to junk,or have an accident.

They merely forked over the $for another used car.
He was shocked and he shook his head over the inflation rate and value of those vehicles in then-days prices.

    I hate to think that\’s what occurring now-these days…..
    Yikes.

I’m wondering if this is the same guy that bought my wrecked ’87 Aerocoupe back in the 90’s. I was living on NJ and it was shipped to Ind. He was definitely hoarding SS’s at the time.

I heard he’s an over the road trucker & has been hoarding this stuff for a while – he had the 5 lightening rod shifters fir 5k on here a while back

I’d buy every one of them on the spot if I had the money. When G-Bodys are life, the ‘86 Aerocoupes are the Great White Buffalo.

The G body people now thing every one should be saved. They value $3,000 cars at double and triple market values. Rare does not always mean value.

The fact that only 2 cars are pictured is not good. Yet the seller does not realize, if the cars are worse off then described even that 5K deposit will have to be refunded.

Are Aero coupes worth $11K each? a 39,000 mile car in great shape yes. A rusty car from the North East or Mid West, no.

I would not even make an offer with out going to see the cars first. Then even if I thought rust buckers were worth $10k each, I’d offer the lowest amount possible. And it is 55K or best offer.
