Spin and Cringe: Watch A GT350 and A Porsche Spin Off The Track Because Of Oil And Hit Nothing!

Oil is racing’s greatest double edged sword, right? Its lubricity and slipperiness are what make engines live through grueling events like the HSR Classic 12 Hour at Sebring but in the event the stuff escapes the surly bonds of the oil pan, it turns into the devil. This video is amazing and we called it Spin and Cringe in tribute to Danny Sullivan’s famed “spin and win” at Indy.

While these guys do not “win” per se they do manage to loop their stuff at speed, hurtle off the track and not hit anything. In fact, we were waiting for the dude in the Porsche to get rammed by another spinning car that caught the slick but the video ends before we see it and we’re going to take that as it not actually happening. We never want to see stuff get wrecked, especially awesome machines like those competing in the HSR series.

These are solid drivers. The HSR may be a “vintage” series but it does not mean that it lacks for competition or that its competitors lack for the fire in their belly. These guys are getting after it and you can see how quickly things go to crap when the cars get into the sauce. It does not matter who is driving in this instance. Once you get into it, you are a passenger. No one was saving this car and we’re just thankful that the only contact was with the curbing and the grass.

Whew!
