(By Tom Lohnes) – With the hot 201-hp Hyundai Elantra N-line out on the streets, people want more. Hyundai is delivering too, with the new top-dog Elantra N.
The third addition to the N lineup, the Elantra N is essentially going to be a faster, better-looking Veloster N. Using the same 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-banger, the Elantra Nis rumored to push out over 300 horses. Of course, a 6-speed manual transmission will be available, but a slick 8-speed DCT will also be there for better lap times. Outside, the teaser images show a racy body kit on top of the already pretty aggressive-looking Elantra. A new spoiler and sporty-looking dual exhausts in the back really compliment the looks.
Inside, expect loads of suede and carbon fiber, as well as a new steering wheel which has a giant blue button on the bottom of it to engage the Elantra N’s overboost function. The seats should be more heavily bolstered, and there should be a racier-looking digital gauge cluster in place of the normal gauges.
I’m pretty excited for this car. The Elantra N is for the people who want a Veloster N but don’t want the weird looks or just the reputation of owning a Veloster. What do you think?
