Crazy Money: Charities Win Big With Insane Spending On Bronco, Cadillacs At Barrett-Jackson

Crazy Money: Charities Win Big With Insane Spending On Bronco, Cadillacs At Barrett-Jackson

(By Tom Lohnes) – It’s a good day to be a charity, because three giant automotive sales happened the other night at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, ringing in a combined $1.6 million for two different charities.

Starting off with the big one, the first. ever sixth-gen Ford Bronco sold at auction for a mind-blowing $1,075,000. Every single penny of this money went to the National Forest Foundation, a group focused on preserving our Forests, and making a cleaner world. This Bronco, being a blue 2-door Wildtrak unit equipped with the 2.7-liter V6 and 10-speed auto combination, definitely benefitted the charity. A lot.

Next up is a much smaller sale, but the Cadillac Blackwing twins sold to the same person for nearly $500,000 combined. Both of the cars being the most desirable spec you can get: Every performance option with a manual transmission, these were big sellers even if they didn’t even hold a candle to the mighty Bronco. The new owners of these cars will be very happy, because they’ll have a quite rare ride for at least a few months until they officially go on sale.

So, would you splash that much cash at these American hero cars? I certainly wouldn’t, because a few months wait can get me a far cheaper one, at the cost of those desirable 001 VIN numbers.

For people with that kind of cash it becomes a contest of how much money can I throw away. Bragging rights go along and always having to outdo their buddies.

God bless people with insane amounts of disposable income. They make a lot of things possible for guys like me. 😉

Followed a Bronco on the highway…looked like one of those undeveloped ” pod people” from ” Invasion of the Body Snatchers” . No hard lines but jello like…Yuk!
