Battling Themselves: This Look At The Chevrolet Equinox vs The Chevrolet Bolt EUV Is Interesting

(By Tom Lohnes) – Chevrolet can be a confusing company when you start to look at all of their various models, especially on the SUV front. Offering basically infinite crossovers and SUVs, it is hard to choose between all of them. The compact Equinox is among the most sold, but is it the right choice for your next Crossover? Well, today we’re going to put the equinox head-to-head against its electrified alternative, the Bolt EUV.

Starting at $27,595, the Equinox comes out on top pricing wise, with almost $6,000 on the Bolt EUV’s $33,000 base price. Under. the hood of the Equinox for the 2021 model year is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 170 horses, which is enough, but not quite adequate for this 3,998-pound machine. For the 2022 model year, the brawnier 2.0T motor with 252 horses returns, which actually will get this thing moving.

Under the EUV’s hood lies a 155-kwh electric motor with 238 horses and 266 lb-ft of torque to deal with. Remember, this is electric torque, which is available from 0 RPM, which contributes to a more fun experience in the Bolt. Outside the two CUVs are drastically different bodies. With the Equinox’s swoopy looking design, the straight-cut Bolt EUV looks downright dramatic compared to it.

Inside is also a clean sweep by the Bolt, with better materials and quality overall, even though the front seats are not as comfortable as we would have expected in our own experience.

In the end, everything comes down to preference. Personally, the Bolt EUV would be in my garage due to the more fun nature and overall look and feel of it. But, the gas-faithful can have their Equinox. Which one would you get?
