The American Powertrain Parting Shift: Ride in A Hot Rodded Porsche 993 As It Tears Around Road America

Chad and I have both admitted to having a bit of a thing for Porsches. They are cool cars, especially the older ones. They get tweaked and hot rodded by people like Singer, and they have a style that’s held its own for more decades than we care to count. That’s why I snagged this footage for our American Powertrain Parting Shift this week. You are looking at the inside of a Porsche owned and driven by Brady Refenneing called “The Green Bean”. Now, before you hit the snooze button, understand that outwardly this looks like a 1970s 911 but it ain’t.

Under the skin there’s what amounts to a near full tube chassis, there’s a GT3 transmission, a 3.4L engine, and a suspension that has been worked to the hilt. Long story short, this thing is a rocket and you’ll understand that when you ride in the car and watch the on-screen gauges translating the telemetry right to your eyeballs. From speed to G-forces, you will get a good idea of what this car is all about.

This video was made last summer at a vintage road racing event and it was (for obvious reasons) basically limited to racers only. This year? This year we get to reclaim motorsports and get out to the track to see as much racing as is possible!
