Now this is a wild one. Scott Lagasse Jr who is a long time stock car racer and road racer was competing at Virginia International Raceway last weekend when he suffered the worst crash of his long racing career. This included the car violently and instantly spinning on the course, heading to the grass, and then taking flight! The machine landed directly on its roof which was shocking enough to see but then continued to flip and plow through the ground for a long while as well. Amazingly Lagasse walked away from this disaster.
The way the car went into a snap spin, something failed immediately and there was nothing anyone could have done to stop it. There was no wiggle, no warning, no telling what was about to happen. It looks like the hand of the almighty came down and spun the thing like a top! You’ll hear the horrible silence as the car glides through the air and then the crunch, smash, and awful rumble of the wreck that follows.
This video presents the destruction in two ways. One, we ride with Lagasse through the whole mess and then secondly there is a camera in the 3rd place car that shows the whole sequence from outside the machine and that’s even more hairy. Knowing that this man not only lived, but walked away with little more than bruises and soreness is astonishing.
Air is tough stuff and once it starts to disagree with the object pushing through it, the person inside said object is helpless to do anything but hang on for the ride. Insane.
