SEMA 2015 Coverage: Meet Most Of The Combatants For The Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational

If there is a cool tradition at SEMA that has really grown into something special it is the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational. This pro touring event has become the premier competition of pro touring style cars in the world and it’s humble beginnings have seen it blossom into a national event series that has its own television show and everything. Chad is the host of the show and that all grew out of the fact that he was the announcer for the OUSCI here for many years.

We went out and cruised “Optima Alley” which is where most, not all, of the OUSCI cars are parked. As you will see, this is a diverse and interesting crop of iron. From the traditional Camaros and Mustangs that you expect to some neat foreign jobs and a Chevrolet truck that certainly is a personal favorite of ours.

Some of the best cars and drivers in the country compete at OUSCI. Trained killers like Mary Pozzi and others battle each other through a series of events that include stuff like autocross, speed stop, hot laps on the road course, and a design/engineering challenge that is judged. The winner of the OUSCI competition is definitely king of the pro touring hill.

Likely one of these cars (or truck!) will be the winner. But who? Stay tuned for that!
