Sneak Peek: The Teaser Images Are out For The 2022 Acura Integra And It’s A Curvaceous One With Nods To The Past

(By Tom Lohnes) –  Sorry purists, Acura actually wants to sell cars. Yes, the upper half of the all-new Acura Integra has been revealed, and it’s going to be a 5-door “Sportback” with a hatch at the back. Hey, at least it isn’t a crossover, right?

A quick look at this teaser image should tell you the obvious: This car is gorgeous. From the kink in the tail lights to the subtle nods to the old car like the badge being etched into the bumper and the little hole under the badge where you open the hatch, this thing looks incredible.

Based off of the Honda Civic, this sleek machine bears no resemblance at all, which is impressive. By the look of the doors, it looks like they’re going for a frameless design, and if you still aren’t convinced this is a 4-door, take a peek at the B-pillar. Acura actually plainly stated that the new teggy would be a 5-door in their product plan in 2018, so this shouldn’t be a real shocker.

Even looking at this teaser, my expectations are high. I hope there are some good powertrains in there, and it would be cool to see an Acura with a stick again. But, only time will tell, and we have to wait until Spring of 2022 to see the whole thing.

My ’72 Mustang fastback had a rear window as flat or flater; totally useless. Ford designers had to offer louvered covers to keep back seaters from melting. Maybe that’s why the rear seats were impossible to use. Could that have been the plan…?
