This week’s American Powertrain Parting Shift is different from all the rest we have showed you over the years. For starters we are outside of the cars that we’ll see and most importantly every car in this video is slowing down. Wait, what? Is that really worth watching? It sure is and we’ll tell you why. This is a compilation video of bad ass cars hauling tail around various road courses in Europe. The one thing that all of these cars have in common is the fact that they are approaching corners and in order to slow down and make the bends the drivers are hard on the binders while at the same time downshifting their cars to take advantage of engine braking. We’re talking open wheel cars, sports cars, street cars, and even killer prototype style sports cars.
Whether these drivers are using the tried and true method of heel-toe downshifting or taking advantage of some sort of killer automated transmission which is operated with paddle shifters, the sound is glorious. Pretty much every other Parting Shift video deals with acceleration at some point. Whether it is on the drag strip of coming hard out of the corners, we are used to seeing drivers knocking up through the gears, not down through them.
The sound is the real selling point here. You will hear V8 engines, rotary engines, four bangers, six cylinders, 12-cylinders and more. Needless to say, the Ferrari contingent has a large lead on the screaming symphony of sounds in this video. We want you to watch and pick your favorite!
