Wagon Master: The New Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Has A Bad Name But Monster Performance

Wagon Master: The New Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Has A Bad Name But Monster Performance

(By Tom Lohnes) – Porsche’s first EV since the early 1900’s, the Taycan has broken ground as both an electric vehicle and a sports car. The hatchback Taycan is a very practical vehicle in itself, but what if you need more? Well, there’s a wagon for that.

With 750 horsepower in the top Turbo S model, a claimed 2.6-second 0-60 time, and a curb weight of 5,500 pounds, the new Posche Taycan cross turismo is no lightweight. What changes between the normal Taycan and the wagon version is not much. Notable changes include beefier air suspension, plastic body cladding, and a new 50/50 AWD split, the Taycan Cross Turismo is the first all-electric station wagon, which is a unique claim to have. It might go for another claim as well, as quickest Wagon around the Nürburgring Nordschelife, with that stat currently held by the dinosaur-powered Mercedes E 63 S wagon.

Pricing for the Taycan Cross Turismo is all but confirmed, but the top Turbo S model is going to be well above $200,000, considering the normal hatchback version stickers for at very least $205,000. But, for the world’s quickest station wagon, you have to pay a price. Expect these to come to dealers in early 2022.
