Rule Benders: This Video Looks At 9 Of The Wildest Racing Homologation Specials Ever!

If there is one thing that’s been true about racing since its earliest days, people will always seek to bend the rules for their own benefit. In road racing and rally racing, there are often rules made mandating that road going examples of the cars used on the track have to be sold. This process of “homologation” is where some of the wildest and most creative rule manipulation ever seen has been employed.

The video below shows off 9 cars that became famous for different reasons. All are streetable versions (some more than others) of the race cars which attacked the track. In the case of the BMW M3, the car has become iconic and the name plate exists even today. In the case of the Ford RS200, the thing lasted a year on the track and barely a handful were actually made and sold.

The variety in terms  of the machines shown here is really great. Of course this video concentrates on the rally and road racing worlds. There could be a second, third, and 30th version of this made with different series as well!
