Watch A 1975 Camaro Get Destroyed With A Club And Brute Strength In The Movie Walking Tall 2!
(By Greg Rourke) – 1975 was not a banner year for performance cars. It was the first year of catalytic converters and unleaded fuel. Chevrolet couldn’t bring themselves to put the Z/28 badge on the 75 model, with it’s 145 horsepower 350. How would you even tune a 350 for 145 horses? Except the time I mixed up the firing order?  But, the Camaro soldiered on.
Here we have a 75 Camaro that was featured in Walking Tall Part 2. Yes, that isn’t Duane Johnson as Buford Pusser, it was Bo Svenson, who replaced Joe Don Baker in the first Walking Tall. They explained the completely different appearance of the actors by showing Buford getting his face shot up. Sorry, my mind wanders…back to the Camaro. The 75 model had the new wraparound back glass, plus the aforementioned low perf 350. This one was driven by a character named Stud Pardee. Sorta makes one wonder what Mister and Missus Pardee were thinking when he was born. Ol’ Stud was known as a local racer and ne’er-do-well, he was hired by the local crime syndicate to get Buford out of the way of their moonshinin’ and prostitution business. He tampered with Bufords car, and of course he messed up. Buford figured out it was Stud who done him wrong, and of course couldn’t just let that go.
Buford gets word that Stud is at a livestock auction, with his shiny new Camaro. He gets a nice, legal search warrant and searches the car as one would expect…by tearing it apart and using his club to “open” it, despite Stud offering him the keys. Door hinges must not have been all that good in ’75, as you’ll see. When Buford carefully “removes” the hood, he sees a dual quad, Mr. Gasket valve cover equipped small block. It also has the Corvette spec shield over the distributor and plug wires for some reason. I paused the vid and enlarged it, it looks like Carter carbs to me. Stud is getting pretty upset, informing the lawmen that it’s a $12,000 engine, but Buford just grins and knocks the velocity stacks off the carbs, and bashes away at anything else he finds. One shouldn’t be driving around on dirt roads without air filters anyway.  Deputy Obra Eaker (They sure have some unusual names in the South) checks inside the big Goodyears in back, also looking for contraband.
Of course Buford finally finds something, but ripping up Stud’s Camaro seemed a bit excessive. But Buford sent his message, and Stud bought himself a new Corvette roadster, but that’s another story.
