Daddy I’m Scared: Someone Combined A Convertible 1989 Dodge Truck With The Back End Of A 1955 Plymouth

Daddy I’m Scared: Someone Combined A Convertible 1989 Dodge Truck With The Back End Of A 1955 Plymouth

We feel that any child which happened upon this torturous concoction would be afraid and rightfully so. This is among the most sublimely weird things we have ever put on these electronic pages and it technically isn’t even our fault. AMP EFI’s Matt Cramer is the one who sent us the tip on this rig, which is for sale for the princely sum of $5,000. For starters, the 1989 Dodge Dakota with a convertible top was one of the most vexingly odd decisions a manufacturer has ever made.

Then again, it was a Dodge and they have been brutally consistent regarding their ability to make the wrong call at the wrong time over the years. There were 2,800 of these trucks built between the 1989 and 1990 production years. This is one of them. In comparison, Plymouth made more than 500,000 cars in 1955, the year that the backend of the truck was born.

We’re thinking that it’s Belvedere ass that’s been grafted to the truck’s chassis. In the end, we cannot say that it matters much as whatever it actually is seems to be overshadowed by the complete and utter wrongness of it all. Now, to the credit of the builder there are (a) side pipes (b) a snapping boot that seems to be a place where the convertible top could be stored when loaded, and (c) those side pipes again.

We don’t know why or how this was done but it was done and now the guy wants $5,000 of your money for it. Do you love money? If you are debating buying this thing, you clearly hate it. The stock interior and 318 will last until the dawn of the next ice age and when that day comes, even the Polar Bears may give this thing a sniff and move on.

Some people have a lot of time on their hands. Apparently some money to throw away too. IT was a lot of work to build this thing.

5k for this crack pipe build? This contraption was a waste of time, energy and money.

Hopefully they had a usable front of the truck and a usable half of the plymouch and nothing more.

Fear not son – I’ve just bought a plasma cutter and need something to cut up!
