You simply do not see these things with any regularity, anymore. Right? Honestly when is the last time you looked up to find a first generation Chevy G10 van zipping down the road. Think on it. We’ll wait. For whatever reason, the vans just do not seem to survive with the regularity of trucks. Perhaps it is because they were worked harder, beaten a little more robustly, and then during the 1970s many of them became rolling petri dishes? Either way, 50 year old vans are not common and s when we see one like this masterpiece that Rocco tipped us off to, we’re celebrating it.
The seller’s grandfather sold ice cream out of this van for years and once the ice cream business was over we’re guessing that the van kind of sat a while. It has been mechanically looked over with systems like the brakes being brought up to snuff and proper function. Electrically the van has also been gone through to make sure that it is not going to (a) die and (b) burn the sucker to the flipping ground.
The engine is the 230ci inline six that the seller claims runs very strong and can smoke the tires at will. This is likely true because it has a three on the tree and a clutch pedal. So in first gear you can wind it up, step off the clutch and make some tracks…for a second.
Basically devoid of options, this classic van is a blank slate for any hot rodder who wants to have a unique and cool whip. More here!
