Growing up in California, I’ve been spoiled by rust free projects for my entire life. Even when I moved to Texas 20 plus years ago there was an abundance of mostly rust free cars and trucks. Moving back to California only jaded me more towards good, clean, rust free projects. And growing up, nothing scared me more than the thought of rust repairs. They can be so daunting.
Well those days are gone. Or at least they can be. The truth is, that with the tools and parts that are available to just about anyone, almost anyone can do legitimate rust repair on their hot rod or truck if they take the time to do it right. And anyone that has looked at an older truck in the last 5 years, knows that rust in the rockers or cab corners is pretty much par for the course, no matter where you live. Thankfully you can buy cab corners and rockers at reasonable prices for lots of older trucks.
These particular videos from Eastwood show the rusty rocker replacement on a 1969 C10 Chevrolet Truck. And we’re not just talking about the outer cosmetics, we’re talking complete inner and outer rocker replacement. And you can do this job at home. Seriously, you can. And if the project is the right one at the right price, it just might be smart to do so. Watch the videos and see what we mean.
